I should like well enough to spend the whole of my life in travelling abroad, if I could anywhere borrow another life to spend afterwards at home!
- William Hazlitt, On Going a Journey (1822)
After a classic French breakfast of fresh baguette with homemade jam and coffee in the conservatory of Sylvie's lovely home in Torcenay, Esther, Elaine and I set off through the village and into the forest. The morning was misty, and though it spotted with rain for a bit, the day soon became warm and humid. The long grass was damp but the forest path was not too muddy and made for very pleasant walking.

The building is right on the Salon river, with a view of the bridge and the village church on the opposite shore. The bells ring rather frequently; hopefully that won't continue all through the night!
