Set off in thick fog across the bridge over the Rio Cávado that separates Fão from Esposende.
In Esposende we left the seashore, continuing parallel to the coast through the towns of Marinhas and Belinho and then through a forest of eucalyptus trees, over a stream and uphill to Santiago de Castelo do Neiva, home to the oldest church dedicated to the saint outside of Spain, consecrated in 862, though much altered since.

We are getting closer to Galicia, and beginning to see horreos - raised grain storage bins
After a day of ups and downs - who said the Caminho da Costa was flat?? - we were very happy to come to the village of Anha and our accommodations at Casa de Carolina, a privateluly operated pilgrim hostel with a footbath!
At the hostel we were reunited with Katerina, whom we had met at the Wine Hostel in Porto, and the five of us hit the local bar to celebrate Annette's anniversary of forty years in her job - and her daughter's first day in her new job as a teacher!
