GR653A Day 11: Le Muy - Lorgues

Actually, we are not quite in Lorgues yet. We found a lovely little place to stay, right on the path, across the street from the 13th century chapel of Florieyes. A newly renovated studio flat we found on airbnb. With a very kind host who offered to do some shopping for us in town .... and to let us beta-test the flat's brand new WASHING MACHINE!

Yes, washing machine! Only if you have been on a Long Walk can you appreciate what this means, after ten days of rinsing out sweaty socks and t-shirts by hand in bathroom sinks. And improvising places to hang them to dry.

I never thought the highlight of my day would be getting to use a washing machine!

But first, how did we get there? By walking 19 kilometres past pine groves and vineyards, through stands of oak and along country lanes. Fording non-existent streams, or rather, stream beds left dry at the end of a long, hot summer. Snacking on the steps of a monastery chapel and lunching on the grass in the shade of an oak tree.
