Walking under Mont Sainte-Victoire.
People come here from all over to hike the slopes of Cézanne's favourite mountain. But when you have more than 1500 km to go, and you see a bump on the landscape, your instinct is to go around rather than over that bump!
Plus, we had been warned that the Bimont dam - over which the GR753A passes - is currently closed Monday through Friday due to work in progress, requiring a longish diversion. And since the shortest route to Aix, along the road, was over 20 km, which is about as far as I like to walk in a day, we figured taking the D17, a small country road, would be the ideal solution. While it did seem a pity to be walking along the road in a place where everyone goes to hike the trails, the road presented no particular problems and plenty of spectacular views of the mountain.
Arriving in the big city after so many days on the trail!
Amazing airbnb...I think I'll stay 2 nights and take a day of rest!
A real home-cooked dinner!
