Camino Frances Day 44: Las Herrerias - O'Cebreiro - Triacastela

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

- document (supposedly) found in old St Paul's Church, Baltimore, 1692

Started today's walk with a 600 metre climb to O'Cebreiro, at 1330 metres, and continued at around this elevation for 12 km before beginning the descent towards Triacastela at 665 metres.
Up, across and down, just like an ordinary Sunday hike back home in Liguria! Only this one clocked in at a total of 33 km.

Crossed into my fifth region of Spain, Galicia, and immediately noticed the difference in the language!

After taking a break for a bowl of soup in Fonfrìa, I began the descent, through farming country with beautiful views.

Tonight I stop at Albergue Ecológico El Beso, another halt on the list recommended to me back at Albergue Verde. The bunks here look like a forest, the food is all vegan, and there's a cob stove you can sit on like the one back at Johanna's place in St. Christaud. Our dinner was cooked and served by the former manager of a Michelin-starred restaurant, who quit his job and came here to volunteer for a couple of months - luckily for us!
