Freezing cold last night in Cardeñuela! At an altitude of around 900 metres, this chilly month of May, the nights are very cold. Luckily there were some empty bunks in the room so I was able to get two blankets! We got off to an early start and were coming into Burgos by 9 am. We had been planning to stay there, but as all the albergues were closed until 12 we headed directly for the cathedral, which had lockers for storing backpacks, and then up to the castle, and then decided to carry on to the next village. We bought some supplies in the supermarket and had a picnic in the park on the way out of Burgos, and then walked another 12 km to Rabé de la Calzada.
